NYC Educator: Chancellor’s Welcome Back Letter

NYC Educator: Chancellor’s Welcome Back Letter

Dear Colleagues:

I am so grateful for all the things you did to make the 1st number of times of this college yr this sort of a good results! As I heard from quite a few of you, or probably it was my subordinates as I (or they) frequented educational institutions across all five boroughs on Thursday and Friday, this was the smoothest reopening we have had in modern memory.

Of course I was not chancellor at this time past yr, so this is the only year I bear in mind at all.

Thank goodness I did not hassle talking to a vast range of teachers, and didn’t have to hear about how the LIE was closed, or the flooding closing other roadways, or the horrendous traffic that produced it unattainable for so numerous of you to even get there at work on time.

That’s a tribute to your tough do the job and determination, and it’s in particular uplifting just after the troubles of the earlier a number of several years, the ones I can blame on my predecessors.  I definitely recognize all of you who are unwilling to notify the fact to me or my subordinates, fearful of a baseless destructive rating. That is imagining in advance!

The massive payoff for all of us, of system, is observing our students’ joyous faces as they returned, energized to be again with their classmates and educators, and having the option to lift them up this faculty yr. I genuinely recognize that. That’s why I’m refusing to come to the bargaining desk, even even though your deal expired yesterday. As you know, my salary is $349,840, so why the hell must I treatment no matter if or not you can make finishes fulfill?

It was wonderful for me to see our pupils reconnect with their pals and academics and to see how ready and eager they are to learn. I was also energized to sense your excitement and enthusiasm. It’s obvious to me just how ready we are to reimagine the practical experience of our students in our colleges.

By “reimagine,” I imply make changes that expense absolutely nothing in conditions of funds. For example, not only are we placing off your contract as extended as attainable, but irrespective of the truth we’re rolling in money. Also, we place off cutting down course sizes for a 12 months. We’re also railing in opposition to lowering course dimensions at all, and vilifying Governor Hochul for signing the monthly bill. You’d greater believe that if Zeldin gets in, that monthly bill will be deader than Rudy Giuliani’s political profession.

We are off to a dazzling and traveling begin, and as I wrote to you past 7 days, I look forward to functioning along with you each individual day to get to higher heights, to breach brigher brights, and freach frier frights.

Generally bear in mind, I’m your very good mate, and there’s just about very little I would do for you.

Soaring superior,

David C. Financial institutions
